Copyright & DMCA Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026 · Effective: June 11, 2026
Stepo, operated by Chau Apps Company Limited ("Chau Apps", "we", "us"), respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This policy explains how to report content on Stepo that you believe infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your content is removed. It supplements our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
1. Reporting copyright infringement (takedown notice)
If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on their behalf) and believe content on Stepo infringes your copyright, send a written notice to chaucao@chauapps.com with the subject "Copyright / DMCA Notice". To be effective, your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the infringing material and enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the username, post, and a description or screenshot).
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Please note that under applicable law you may be liable for damages if you knowingly misrepresent that material is infringing.
2. What we do with a valid notice
- We review each notice and, where it is valid, remove or disable access to the reported content, typically within 24 business hours.
- We notify the user who posted the content and provide a copy of the notice (with your personal contact details removed where reasonable).
- We may keep a record of notices for legal and safety purposes.
3. Counter-notice
If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to chaucao@chauapps.com with the subject "Copyright Counter-Notice", including:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the content that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the content after a reasonable period unless the original complainant notifies us that they have initiated legal action.
4. Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. As a guideline, three valid copyright complaints within a 12-month period may result in account termination.
